Connect an AI assistant

AutoTax AI works with AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. Once connected, your assistant can check your tax summary, list your transactions and income sources, and check your Tax Health Score — just by asking.

Paste this link into your AI assistant when it asks for a server URL:

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT connector settings and turn on Developer mode (read the risk notice shown there). If Developer mode is unavailable, ask a ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open the new connector dialog.
  3. Enter AutoTax AI as the name and paste the link above as the URL.
  4. Review the details, tick “I understand and want to continue” (ChatGPT shows this warning for every custom connector), then click Create.
  5. Turn on AutoTax AI from the chat composer, then ask ChatGPT to use it.

Claude

  1. Open the Claude connector dialog — the name and link are filled in for you.
  2. Review the details and click Add.
  3. If the form doesn't open, go to Claude's Connectors page, choose Add custom connector, name it AutoTax AI and paste the link above.
  4. Turn on the connector from the chat composer, then ask Claude to use AutoTax AI.

Claude Code

  1. Run this command in a terminal:
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http autotax-ai 'https://autotaxai.co.uk/mcp'
  1. Start Claude Code and run /mcp to confirm AutoTax AI is connected. Sign in if asked.
  2. Ask Claude Code to use AutoTax AI.

Other AI assistants

  1. Open your assistant's MCP server or custom connector settings.
  2. Create a remote MCP server connection.
  3. Name it AutoTax AI and paste the link above.
  4. Finish any sign-in or authorisation prompts.
  5. Turn on the connection, then ask the assistant to use AutoTax AI.

After we update the app

Your assistant remembers the tools from when you first connected. If we add new ones, refresh the connection:

  • ChatGPT: open the Plugins page, select AutoTax AI, scroll to “Information” and click Refresh. If the link has changed, delete the connector and connect again with the latest link.
  • Claude: open the Connectors page, select the connector and refresh its tools. If the link has changed, remove it and connect again.
  • Claude Code: start a new session — it picks up the latest tools automatically. If the link changed, run claude mcp remove autotax-ai, then run the command above again.
  • Other assistants: open the connection's settings and refresh, reload or reconnect it, pasting the latest link if it changed.
